Farmer's Market & Hula Show--Day 5

On Monday, I spent some time sewing and after Evelyn's nap, we went to Old Koloa Town and browsed some shops.  The Farmer's Market was across the street and we planned to pick up some unusual, or different to me, fruits.  Arriving at the market, there were people waiting already.  Elizabeth knew, from past experience, that if you have a baby, they will let you in first.  That gave us a couple of minutes to look over the goods and plan what to buy.  You can not buy anything until the whistle blows!

There were vendors with fruits, vegetables, and flowers.  Bananas sold out of the back of a truck.  Most had canopies, but some did not.  It was quite the cultural event.  We filled our bag for about $20 and there delicious items to taste!

For dinner that night, Elizabeth made us a "luau" meal before we attended a hula show.  I had bought some ribs from Costco, she made mashed Hawaiian purple sweet potatoes, and we had a salad of fresh lettuce, mango and feta cheese.  Yum!  Elizabeth really knows how to make delicious food!

After dinner, we went to the Smith's Family Hula show.  The show was my Mother's Day gift from Dave and Elizabeth.  I really enjoyed the show!

Koloa Town is not very big

 Happy girl!

 Exotic floral arrangements

We bought our mangos from this vendor and they were very tasty!

Also very yummy!

We bought a fresh coconut and had a hole cut in the top, with a straw to drink the water inside

This is what the purple sweet potatoes look like before cooking

This is how they look mashed.  These were a brilliant purple color!

Lettuce, mango, feta and walnut salad

Evelyn is so adorable as she eats by herself!

I miss the farmers market in Saratoga, but that one sounds like it would be soooo fun! And that dinner sounded amazing! Glad you had such a fun trip.
