Harry Potter. . . .in Saratoga?

Every year for Memorial Day, there is a service done at the cemetery in Saratoga.  It is a very nice place to be on that day, fresh and early in the morning.  The Saratoga High School band and choir perform at the service.  I caught a shot of him.

Now for Harry Potter.  One year, I was wondering around reading headstones.  I had to laugh when I came upon one that had Harry Potter's name on it!

I just love flowers!

I just love flowers!  I always have.  Some flowers remind me of great memories.  For Mother's Day, Sarah brought home some flowers, that were actually from Scott.  Since he is in China, Sarah bought them for him.  Sarah knows my favorite color is pink.

April Events~~Sierra Snowstorm!

As Jonathan and I returned home to California, we got to the Sierra mountains and was snowing!  I worry about driving over the Sierra's in April, because it can snow!

I just had to stop!  Jonathan and I got out to check out the snow.  Then he decided to go exploring up the hill.  After a time,  the snow was coming down pretty heavy.  I don't have chains for my van tires, so I thought we should get going.  It was fun to stop, even for a few minutes!

A fresh snowfall is so beautiful!

We needed to get back on the road!

I don't know how to turn this photo, be we did make a small snowman.

Jonathan dying to get in the snow!

April Events~~Surprise Baby Shower!

Since I was going to be in Utah, I thought it would be great to throw Elizabeth a baby shower!  Her sister-in-law, Megan, emailed me about a week later asking about a shower.  Great minds thinking alike~

Dave was in on the planning, but he has a difficult time keeping secrets from Elizabeth, so this was not an easy task.  Finally, we brought Dave's mom into the planning.  Becky asked Elizabeth to help with a surprise graduation party.  Elizabeth was told that since Becky could not be there, she wanted to plan a party. Everything had been taken care of, and her job was to get Dave to the party.  So, Elizabeth wasn't suspicious about anything.  Everything was going great!  Megan and I had a scheduled plan and didn't think we would have any detours.  Well, Elizabeth had her own schedule in mind.

The evening of the shower, I took Katie, Jonathan, Dave and Elizabeth out to dinner to a favorite place--Texas Roadhouse.  It was there that I realized I was not going to get away early from dinner to help set out the food, etc.  I excused myself to the bathroom and there made a call to Megan that lasted about 15 minutes.  I needed to give Megan instructions on what I had planned for set up. It was a good thing that we had made up most of the refreshments that afternoon.  As we got to the home of the "party", we all went downstairs to a "surprise"!  Surprise to Elizabeth!  She said to Dave, "it's for you", and Dave then said, "no, it's for you!".  Reality set in and Elizabeth caught on that the party was for her!

A delicious food spread!

Sarah made fondant covered sugar cookies in the shape of baby bottles,

and onesies!

Sarah made the cakes from her bakery at home in Calif.  They were very tasty!  We packed them very carefully in a cooler for the ride back.

Pink Converse shoes made from something sugar,

The baby bottle was made out of chocolate!

A happy mom-to-be!  After the shock of surprise, we all had a wonderful time!

April Events~~Dave's Graduation

So it's time to catch up!  The last thing I posted was about my mother on Mother's Day.  I realized that I had not posted about the trip that Jonathan and I made to Utah mid-April for Dave's graduation from BYU.  He actually had finished in Dec., but participated in April graduation.  I don't think that Dave really wanted to take part, however, because I was there, he went along with it.  He said afterwards, that he was glad he had.

Dave walked at graduation with his sister-in-law, Cody.

Very tasty reception upstairs at the Wilkinson Center.  I love the mint brownie's they make at BYU!

Here is a couple with loads of things going in life.  You can see that very soon, Elizabeth was to have the baby.
